Purpose Statement The primary purpose of the Medication Management policy is to ensure that clients receive medications safely and effectively while minimizing the potential for errors and adverse reactions. This policy establishes robust protocols for medication administration, storage, documentation, and error reporting, thereby safeguarding client health and ensuring compliance with regulatory mandates. By implementing rigorous medication management practices, Simpl Care Services LLC aims to promote client safety, preserve high-quality care, and instill confidence in both internal staff and external regulatory bodies. Key objectives include: • Ensuring that every medication is administered by qualified staff following approved protocols for different routes of administration. • Maintaining secure, temperature-controlled storage of medications and proper disposal of expired or unused drugs. • Providing accurate and timely documentation through Medication Administration Records (MARs), medication reconciliation, and documentation of any changes in medication therapy. • Equipping all relevant staff with rigorous training and periodic competency evaluations. • Implementing prompt and structured protocols for managing medication errors and adverse reactions.

Scope of the Policy

This policy applies to all Simpl Care Services LLC employees who are involved in medication management. It covers: • Direct support professionals and nursing staff administering medications to clients in residential, daycare, and in-home settings. • Pharmacy providers partnered with the agency as well as administrative personnel responsible for ordering and replenishing medications. • Quality Assurance and Compliance teams overseeing medication safety, documentation, and error management. • All processes related to medication administration — including protocols for oral, topical, inhaled, intramuscular, and intravenous routes — are encompassed within this policy.
